Gadget of the Week – Hello Barbie
Published on December 23, 2015

Say hello to the newest addition to the Barbie family, “Hello Barbie!”
Coming this holiday season, Mattel presents Hello Barbie - the first-ever Barbie doll to feature artificial intelligence. Now, Barbie can carry on a two-way conversation.
Hello Barbie has built in WIFI capabilities and speech recognition technology from the company ToyTalk. This allows Hello Barbie to listen and learn, allowing each doll to have a unique and adapting relationship with its owner.
She can play interactive games, tell jokes and stories. She’s able to listen and learn to each kid’s preference and adapt accordingly. Using her WIFI capabilities, Hello Barbie stores your interactions in the Cloud and learns from them. Mattel can also push new data to her so she is always relevant and up to date.
Here's a sample of an actual conversation with Hello Barbie.
Kid - “I love being on stage.”
Hello Barbie - “That’s cool, I didn't know that about you. I like to be on stage too.”
Kid - “Barbie, what should I be when I grow up?”
Hello Barbie - “Well you told me you liked being on stage, so maybe a dancer? Or a politician? Or how about a dancing politician. I always say, anything is possible.”
It sure is, Hello Barbie. It sure is.
Hello Barbie is sure to be the hot toy this year, and is available for $60 on Amazon.
