Gadget of the Week – Ring Connected Doorbell Camera
Published on February 3, 2016

With the Ring Doorbell, you can take "Hello, it's me" to a whole other level.
"A new approach to home security," Ring lets you see and talk to anyone at your door via smartphone and hopes to aid in preventing to over 1 million burglaries each year during daytime hours. According to its website, there are four key features to this device:
1. Mobile Access
The video doorbell syncs up with the free app on your iOS or Android system, which allows you to see and talk to the visitor at your door while they only hear you.
2. Motion Detection
Ring cheekily asserts that "not everyone uses the doorbell," and to ease worries and prevent break-ins, the free app also alerts you to any motion on your property. It also activates a nighttime HD camera.
3. Easy Installation
Ring connects to your home's wifi network and is installed without any special tools.
4. Lifetime Warranty
And, hey, if the doorbell winds up being stolen, they'll replace it for free.
We think that Ring is a cool way of combining security and efficiency. And, for less than $200, it could end up being a priceless resource.
