App of the Week – Workflow
Published on February 24, 2016

We’re all about saving you time and effort here at Geek. After all, technology should make life easier, shouldn’t it?
We’ve written before about time-saving programs like IFTTT (If This, Then That). Now there’s a new app for iOS that promises to make automating your business and personal tasks a breeze.
That app is Workflow. Billing itself as “powerful automation made simple,” Workflow allows you to connect several actions in a stream to easily automate things you already do on your iPhone, iPad, or Apple Watch.
What makes Workflow remarkable is its ability to pull multiple apps – including Tweetbot, Uber, and Geek favorites like Evernote – into one time-saving stream. Using Workflow’s clean, easy-to-navigate interface, users can simply drag and drop events and actions together to design a custom process, helping to streamline and simplify tasks that would otherwise require multiple steps and platforms.
This review at MacWorld offers a few easy suggestions for what Workflow can do for you. The tasks range from the simple - like creating a process that automatically collects your recent photos, zips them, uploads them to Dropbox, and then sends you an email containing a link - to processes that can add totally new functionality to your device – the writer at MacWorld used Workflow to set up a word-counting tool extension using his clipboard, for example.
Workflow rewards experimentation, and you’ll want to play around to see what you can make it do for you. There is also a shared gallery space that allows you to check out and use the advanced workflows created by other users, or share an application of your own.
The winner of a 2015 Apple Design Award and an app store editors’ choice, Workflow is available to download for $2.99.
Know any other ways to boost your mobile productivity? Do you have experience with Workflow or IFTTT? We’d love to hear from you! Drop us a line to share your thoughts.
